Our experienced consultants work with clients to personalise their school review specifications to meet the individual circumstances and requirements of different schools.
A school with a previous “good” Ofsted judgement was feeling stuck in terms of progress towards “outstanding”. Our consultants (including an experienced Ofsted inspector) were commissioned to provide a completely objective assessment of where the school was now – and to offer advice and suggestions for taking the school agenda forward. The School received an outstanding judgment in their Ofsted the following year.
A school with historically low data for writing decided that they needed a new perspective on why progress was being so slow and commissioned an initial review of writing across the school, including in-depth data analysis. The school leadership team was involved in developing the review plan and worked along side our consultant during the review of teaching and learning. The consultant and the literacy coordinator then worked together to develop an action plan. All senior staff reported immediate increased confidence in the teaching of writing from the process of the review. The outcomes of the review were very practical and provided a secure base for an action plan the school was motivated to implement. Children’s writing improved!
A new headteacher with a relatively inexperienced leadership team wanted practical training in evaluating their school as a team. Our consultants worked with them to plan and deliver (in partnership) two days of lesson observations and work scrutiny, and a follow up session reviewing and evaluating the data. The school team was reassured that their judgments were mostly in line with Ofsted criteria, and enjoyed the process – including the opportunity to work on their feedback skills in a real situation. At the end of the process the school had a robust plan in place for individual teacher development and an action plan for curriculum development in two key areas.
