A recent Linden Learning schools coaching project.
One day of essential skills training for a group of 12 teachers with leadership responsibilities across 7 schools.
This was the start of a coaching and mentoring project designed to strengthen the confidence and skills of a group of teachers responsible for developing the talents of others. This initial day was highly practical and interactive. Delegates were left with follow-up material to read and share in coaching pairs to extend learning – with optional half day “best practice” sessions available to look at specific techniques such as giving difficult feedback, managing conflict and identifying blocks and barriers to successful performance.
It has made me reflect on how I feed back to staff and consider how to enable them to set their own goals and targets whilst empowering them as teachers and learners.
Really useful to witness high quality coaching and have a go ourselves in a positive and safe environment.
I will be able to help others help themselves more effectively without adding to my workload.
