EYFS: Write Start

A recent Linden Learning Early Years Foundation Stage commissioned course.

Aims and objectives

To enable participants to confidently teach writing in the EYFS and to support teachers in all aspects of teaching writing including:

  • understanding the stages of learning to write
  • teaching the skills needed to learn to write
  • providing an enabling environment and planning learning opportunities for writing – both adult led and child initiated activities
  • enabling children to see themselves as writers and supporting and motivating boys’ writing

 

LINDEN LEARNING EARLY YEARS COURSES
In-depth understanding of child development is essential to inform effective EYFS practice. Although this is a core part of initial training, revisiting and refreshing our learning with specific children in mind however can substantially improve our practice. The following courses will support this process.  
 

EYFS: English as an additional language for EYFS practitioners

This course will focus on improving outcomes for EAL children’s learning and strengthening engagement with their parents drawing on best practice and research evidence.

Considering adult values and attitudes of parents and of practitioners around safety and risk and how to provide appropriate outdoor learning experience.

Aiming to develop an understanding of the positive impact that movement has on our brain and ability to learn.

EYFS: How Do I Learn? The Characteristics of Effective Learning

Exploring the characteristics of effective learning and how young children learn, relating this to everyday practice.

EYFS: Brain Development in the Under Threes

Aiming to develop an understanding of brain development from birth to three years and of how to apply this knowledge to effective early years practice.

EYFS: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Exploring the key elements of the SEND Code of Practice 2014 and the implications for EYFS practice.

EYFS: Listening, Involving and Consulting with Young Children

Exploring the principles, purposes and best practice in listening, involving and consulting with young children using a multi-sensory approach.

EYFS: Wellbeing and Involvement

Aiming to enable practitioners to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively evaluate and improve the quality of children’s learning and provision.

EYFS: Behaviour

Aiming to develop the ability of practitioners to see situations from the perspective of the child given their developmental progress and current understanding.
