Andy Redman has worked as a head teacher within the Diocese of Southwark for the past 16 years; his particular experience and expertise lies in supporting schools emerging from challenging circumstances to move ‘onwards and upwards.’
In each of these schools, Andy has worked alongside teaching staff, support staff, governors and parents to empower them to make the difference; progress has been achieved through a leadership approach that is passionate about standards and clear in its vision that all children can succeed.
Supported by LPSH training (2001), Workforce Remodelling (2003), NCSL Consultant Head Teacher training (2004) and Leading from the Middle (2007) Andy has ensured that, in each setting, all stakeholders have had a clear understanding of the role they need to play in their ‘onward and upward’ journey and has acted as a coach and mentor, to make this vision become a reality. In his second headship, the school achieved the rigorous ‘Investors in People’ Award at the first assessment.
In 2008 Andy was appointed as Executive Head Teacher and asked to work alongside another Southwark Diocesan school; this was supported by LLE training in 2010. Acting as a coach and mentor, Andy successfully developed newly created middle and senior leadership teams as well as governors and Heads of School. By March 2011, OfSTED reported that the school had made ‘outstanding progress in demonstrating a better capacity for sustained improvement.’
