Career and Transition Coaching
For the past five years Rachel has been working independently, specialising in coaching, facilitation and training. She is a highly intuitive coach and is naturally drawn to working with people at cross roads in their lives. Rachel doesn’t work exclusively within the education sector meaning that whilst she has an excellent understanding of education issues, she also has wider perspective to bring to bear. She offers coaching through many types of transition – whether personal or organisational.
Clients’ typical issues may be:
- Someone who has been working for years in education and is now ready for a complete change but is bewildered about how to make the next move
- They are at middle level and are feeling stuck – what next?
- Wanting to build resilience and increase work satisfaction
- Planning for the next career
- Wanting to plan for fulfilment in retirement
- Facing redundancy
- Wanting support as they go through the menopause
Recent work includes coaching a head teacher approaching retirement; Coaching a pre-school deputy who has recently been promoted to manager of the whole setting; Coaching a teacher who wanted to plan a second career outside of direct teaching; running an all staff team building day for a pre-school based on MBTI; running a “Coaching Through the Menopause” workshop working through endings, beginnings and refreshed identity.
Coaching methods include:
- One to one coaching either face to face or via telephone or Skype
- Group coaching and team building
Rachel has a CIPD post graduate qualification in the Psychology of Organisational Development and Change. She is a MBTI, Firo-B and Belbin team roles practioner and uses these in her coaching work. She is currently completing her ILM postgraduate Diploma in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring.
Previously Rachel worked in national press and magazine companies for 19 years, successfully managing sales, creative solutions and digital teams .The love of training and people development lured her into the learning and development field and she worked as a Learning and Development Manager for Guardian Newspapers. She successfully chaired her local pre-school for 2 years and was a Vice-Chair of the governing body at her local primary school.
She has…a non-judgemental approach. Encouraging, supportive and allowing me to come to my own ideas and decisions. Putting me at ease, especially as I felt like I was coming from a very ‘closed’ employment world. I really appreciated the fact that it was made ‘concrete’ with clear tasks/ suggestions/ next steps and a very clear timeframe of possibility – in order to feel that I was moving forward and there was a clear route – as well as always making me feel that a new career was possible and realistic. Rachel has been absolutely brilliant in helping me to think more clearly about my work priorities. She listens intently, asking the right questions at the right time, Rachel’s warm, positive and enthusiastic nature make her a real pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend her as a coach! Rachel’s power of empathy and caring is truly remarkable. She is always calm, considered and un-ruffle-able, and remains positive no matter what. She is also steely when needed and when she does challenge her clients she always does it in the kindest possible way! WL
